— Concept
A 28-key boutique hotel reimagining the Indo-Portuguese vernacular through a contemporary, monochrome lens.
Meridian threads colonial-era arches through a strict modern grid. Local laterite is paired with bone-coloured lime plaster and reclaimed teak. Each suite opens to a private courtyard.
The site is a 1.4-acre plot 800 metres from a quiet beach. We organised the plan around two intersecting axes — a long water court and a perpendicular green walk — with rooms arranged as four blocks of seven keys each. The result reads more like a small village than a hotel.
Local Goan laterite is used for all primary walls, left exposed where it meets garden. The arches that punctuate the corridors are abstracted from Indo-Portuguese precedents — but stripped of ornament. Suites are finished in lime plaster, Kadappa stone floors, and the same reclaimed teak as the floors at the public spaces.
